Since the Hittites, one of the ancient peoples of Anatolia, Pistachio is not missing from our palates and has been the subject of trade. One of the gene sources of this product, which is indispensable for the Aramean and Assyrian trade colonies, is Anatolia (Near East Gene Center; Anatolia, Caucasus, Iran and Turkmenistan) and the other is Central Asia. The Central Asian gene center is north of India, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. Pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) is an edible fruit-bearing plant from the gum tree family. The plant, which was first cultivated by the Hittites, spread from the Roman Empire to Spain.
